Citrus Marinated Carne Asada

Full of bright, zesty, spicy flavor, this juicy and tender Citrus Marinated Carne Asada is the perfect addition to any Mexican dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Flank Steak

  • 1 Orange, juiced

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

  • 1 Lime, juiced

  • 1 Jalapeno, diced

  • 3 Garlic Cloves, minced

  • 1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped

  • 2 teaspoons Brown Sugar

  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder

  • 1 teaspoon Cumin

  • 1 teaspoon Coriander

  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • 1 teaspoon Pepper

In a small bowl, combine all ingredients but the flank steak.  Whisk until smooth.  (Alternatively, you can use a hand blender, blender or food processor to mix the marinade.)

Place the flank steak and the marinade in a large sealable plastic bag.  Toss to coat and allow to marinate between 1 and 24 hours.

Heat a skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high.  Remove the steak from the bag, pat dry, and discard the marinade. When the pan is nearly smoking hot, add the steak, allowing it to sear for 3-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches 130 degrees for medium rare.

Remove from heat, cover with foil, and allow to rest for 10 minutes.  Slice against the grain and serve as the star of your favorite Mexican dish.  Enjoy with those you love!
